A class action lawsuit claimed that Chocmod Canada Inc. marketed and sold Truffettes de France chocolate products in Canada in a misleading way, by indicating they were made in France when they were allegedly manufactured in Canada. The lawsuit said this caused economic loss to people who bought the products. Chocmod Canada Inc. denies all wrongdoing, and no court has found that it did anything wrong.

The parties reached a proposed settlement that creates a $300,000 fund to pay eligible class members, along with notice, administration and legal costs. Chocmod has also agreed to change the branding of the products, adopting the name Truffettes à la Française or, if trademark approval is not obtained, displaying Made in Canada more prominently on packaging. The Superior Court of Quebec will decide whether to approve the settlement at a hearing on November 3, 2026, and payments will only be issued after approval and after all appeal periods have expired.
