On July 8, 2024, Danone Canada recalled certain Silk Canada and Great Value plant-based products because they may have been contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. People who bought or consumed the recalled products and became ill, and in some cases their family members, brought a class action against Danone Canada, Wal-Mart Canada Corp., Joriki Inc., and Intact Insurance Company.

The parties reached a settlement, and the defendants deny any wrongdoing. The Superior Court of Quebec approved the settlement on April 17, 2026. It sets up a fund of $7,500,000 to compensate approved claimants, provincial health insurers, legal fees, and administration costs, with individual payments based on how severe each person's illness was.
