On March 29, 2015, Air Canada Flight AC624 crashed while trying to land at Halifax Stanfield International Airport. Passengers started a class action in the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia against Air Canada, Airbus S.A.S., Nav Canada, the Halifax International Airport Authority, the Attorney General of Canada and others, claiming they were at fault for the crash and that passengers were injured as a result. The defendants deny they were at fault and dispute the nature and degree of the injuries.

Air Canada, Nav Canada and the Halifax International Airport Authority agreed to pay $18,075,000.00 to settle the case, without admitting any wrongdoing, and the court has approved the settlement. After payments to public and private health insurers, court-approved legal fees and expenses, and administration costs, the remaining money will be paid to class members under a court-supervised Distribution Protocol, based on Class Counsel's valuation of each person's claim.
